Blackmagic Design will launch the DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel, a new low-cost color panel for DaVinci Resolve software, in May 2024.
Designed in collaboration with the world’s leading colorists, the DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel features a high-quality trackball and precision-machined control knobs for fine-tuning primary grading parameters, and navigation keys for shortcut commands. Equipped with a transport key. It’s more portable than ever, with a slot for an Apple iPad Pro, an internal battery, and connectivity via Bluetooth or USB-C.
Whether you’re a beginner or a professional colorist, the DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel will help you work faster and more creatively. Being able to control multiple parameters simultaneously and fluidly at your fingertips expands your creative options. You can work much faster than with a mouse. All knobs, dials, and buttons are of high quality and specially designed with optimal resistance to operation, allowing you to adjust every parameter with precision.
Features
The new DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel features three delicate trackballs with variable control and 12 precision-machined knobs for direct access to your most frequently used primary correction functions. This makes it easy to try out new combinations. The primary knob controls Y Lift, Y Gamma, Y Gain, Contrast, Pivot, Midtone Detail, Color Boost, Shadows, Highlights, Saturation, Hue, and Brightness Mix.
The Micro Color Panel is slightly larger than a computer keyboard and is powered by a battery and USB-C. You can also connect to DaVinci Resolve via Bluetooth or USB-C. When not used with iPad Pro, it’s perfect for sitting next to a laptop or computer keyboard, making it easy for editors and colorists to move back and forth between the keyboard and control panel while editing, allowing them to grade and color correct at the same time.
More Controls
In addition, this panel features various transport and grading control buttons on the left, top, and right sides. This means your most important and frequently used commands are right at your fingertips, helping you work faster. Many of the controls, such as still wipe, cursor, and selection, are only available on larger grading panels such as the Mini Panel and Advanced Panel.
If you’ve used the DaVinci Resolve Advanced Panel before, you’ll quickly become familiar with the shift keys on the DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel. Colorists who already use DaVinci Resolve will find the new panel familiar, as many of the controls are in the same place and the trackball is designed for a professional feel. Upshift and downshift keys triple the panel’s functionality. With DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel, you can change the shape, size, position, and even softness of the Power Window, and even resize the input image. These operations can be performed with the trackball and ring used for grading.
Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design, commented:
The previous model, the DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel, was very popular with those who needed a compact grading panel. However, we wanted to develop a solution that was more portable and affordable than ever before. The new DaVinci Resolve Micro Color Panel now has more features than the DaVinci Resolve Micro Panel. Some of those features were previously available only in the Advanced Panel. We also produce translated versions of the panel labels in different languages, so you can use the panels even if you don’t speak English. We look forward to hearing what environments this panel will be used in. Also, I can’t wait to see the cinematic images created with this panel!
