Final Cut Pro 2 for iPad
The latest update to Final Cut Pro for iPad transforms the iPad into an even more powerful production studio, bringing all new video workflows while delivering even more capabilities with the new Apple Pencil Pro. With the M4 in the new iPad Pro, final rendering is up to two times faster. Editors can take advantage of support for up to four times more ProRes RAW streams compared to the M1.
Live Multicam
Final Cut Pro 2 for iPad introduces Live Multicam, a new solution that lets users shoot a scene from up to four different angles, whether they’re working on their own device or collaborating with others. Live Multicam connects wirelessly through the new Final Cut Camera video capture app, allowing users to view up to four iPhone or iPad devices, providing a director’s view of each camera in real time.
Each live camera feed has adjustable settings in Final Cut Pro 2 for iPad so customers can easily dial in exposure, focus, zoom and more to refine their shots. Editable preview clips are instantly sent to Final Cut Pro for iPad where they are replaced with full resolution files in the background, allowing users to move seamlessly from producing to editing.
Final Cut Camera
To support live multicam in Final Cut Pro 2 for iPad, Final Cut Camera comes to iPhone and iPad allowing live monitoring and individual control of each video feed. Leveraging the camera system on iPhone and iPad, users can adjust white balance, manual focus and other settings while monitoring what they’re shooting with zebra and audio meters.
Final Cut Camera also brings even more power to the camera systems on iPad Air and iPad Pro with adjustable ISO and shutter speed, as well as focus peaking. Final Cut Camera is also available as a free standalone video capture app for iPhone and iPad, allowing users to capture professional-quality videos with precise manual controls.
Support for external projects
For even more storage flexibility, Final Cut Pro 2 for iPad now supports external projects. Users can easily create or open projects on external storage devices and import media without using up space on their iPad. Editors can quickly hand off external projects to another editor or bring them into Final Cut Pro for Mac. New projects can be created on external storage or seamlessly import high-resolution files and professional codecs like ProRes and Log.
More ways to customize
Final Cut Pro 2 for iPad gives users even more options to customise their projects: users can dial in their edit with 12 new colour grading presets, choose from eight basic text titles, create music with 20 new soundtracks, add dynamic backgrounds and create effects overlays and title sequences.
The powerful new Apple Pencil Pro brings even more precision to Final Cut Pro 2 for iPad users, with live drawing now supporting barrel roll, giving users even more precise control over their selected tool and the ability to instantly reveal more brushes and settings with a squeeze.
Final Cut Pro 10.8 for Mac
On the Mac, editors can take their professional workflows to the next level. Leveraging the Neural Engine of Apple Silicon, Final Cut Pro 10.8 adds new AI features and management tools. Available as a free update for existing users, Final Cut Pro 10.8 introduces Enhance Light and Color, improving color, color balance, contrast and brightness in one easy step, optimized for SDR, HDR, RAW and Log-encoded media. Smooth Slo-Mo intelligently generates and blends frames of video to deliver high-quality movement and bring more drama to your projects.
To streamline post-production workflows, color corrections and video effects can now be custom named in the inspector to make it easier to identify changes applied to a clip, and effects can now be dragged from the inspector to another clip in the timeline or viewer. The timeline index provides the ability to find and browse clips with missing media or effects, and text-based timeline search now includes critical information like reel, scene and camera angle.
