IBC2024
Blackcam Robotics has launched the RP1 free-roaming robot pedestal and ARRO2 robot arm, which enable free and creative camera movements, providing broadcasters and production teams with the ability to achieve superior in-camera footage. The Blackcam Robotics RP1 was on display at KST Moschkau and Zero Density’s booth at IBC2024, held in Amsterdam from September 13 to 16, 2024.
The RP1 is a new free-roaming robotic pedestal built to meet the needs of fast-paced locations such as news studios. With a robust 60kg payload capacity and multi-directional wheels, it can carry a variety of equipment while gliding around the studio at up to 250mm/s. It also features include a 7-inch touchscreen display, digital lens control for both Fujinon and Canon systems, and an integrated 48V power supply for cameras, teleprompters, and converters. Its modular and innovative design allows for smooth operation with tool-free wheel cleaning and efficient cable management.
Mantis Arm
Also on display at the booth was “Mantis,” a combination of the RP1 and a robotic arm. Developed by KST Moschkau, Mantis demonstrates the ease of use and compatibility of the RP1.
Additionally, Blackcam introduced the latest version of its robotic arm, the ARRO2, a lightweight, modular and quiet solution designed for versatility in broadcast environments. Weighing just 80kg, the ARRO2 can navigate a 3D space with a 3.6m diameter and rotate 360° with near-silent precision. This enables mounted cameras to capture dynamic shots for sports, news and more.
The ARRO2
ARRO2’s modular design allows for easy setup in under 30 minutes. It also is compatible with many broadcast cameras and lens systems. The ARRO2 has a payload capacity of 17 kg at 1.8m in length and adjusts to extend to a length of 2.2m. It features dual operation in manual and automatic modes, allowing movements to be pre-programmed or controlled in real time. ARRO2 was also in action at the German Pavilion booth.
