Tamron Co., Ltd. will release the 90mm F/2.8 Di III MACRO VXD (Model F072), a new medium-telephoto macro lens for Sony E-mount and Nikon Z-mount full-frame mirrorless single-lens cameras. This lens will be released on October 24, 2024.
Tamron 90mm F/2.8 Di III MACRO VXD Details
High-quality optical performance and image quality that inherits the philosophy of previous 90mm macro lenses
The lens is made up of 15 elements in 12 groups. Four special glass LD (Low Dispersion) lenses thoroughly suppress light dispersion and effectively correct axial chromatic aberration and magnification chromatic aberration. In addition, the BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) coating, which suppresses ghosting and flare, precisely depicts the details of the subject even in backlit conditions, resulting in clear, sharp images.
Thanks to its outstanding optical performance, it is possible to enjoy special photographic expression in any scene, not only macro photography, but also portraits, tabletop photos, long-distance photography, and more.
Tamron’s first 12-blade circular aperture for beautiful bokeh and light effects
The 90mm F2.8 MACRO uses a 12-blade circular aperture, a first for Tamron, to achieve the ultimate in circular bokeh. Particularly in the macro range of maximum shooting magnifications of 1:1 to 1:4, the lens is designed to ensure that the bokeh is perfectly circular when the aperture is fully open.
In addition, the lens is designed to minimize vignetting all the way to the corners of the image. Furthermore, by using only spherical lenses, you can enjoy beautiful bokeh to your heart’s content.
Furthermore, the 12 blades enable clear, clear light effects when the aperture is narrowed, allowing users to enjoy dramatic image creation without obscuring the subject, even in locations with many light sources, such as factory night scenes or illuminations.
Compact size of 126.5mm in length
The 90mm F2.8 MACRO is a medium telephoto macro lens with an aperture of F2.8, yet it has a length of 126.5mm. With a maximum diameter of φ79.2mm, it fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and is easy to hold, making it a compact size that is easy to take out to the field. It is also lightweight at 630g, so it is not a burden even when shooting handheld for long periods of time.
New hood with a window for easy operation of the rotating filter
The 90mm F2.8 MACRO uses a new hood equipped with a sliding window that makes filter operation easy. When using rotating filters such as PL, ND, and cloth filters, the filter is rotated to adjust the effect, but this can be a hassle as the hood must be removed each time. To eliminate this hassle, the new hood allows you to insert your finger through the window to rotate the filter and adjust it.
This allows for precise control of shooting conditions without disrupting the rhythm of any shoot.
