Sony α7 IV firmware version 6.01 Now Available.

Sony today released an update for its α7 IV digital mirrorless camera, Sony α7 IV firmware version 6.01. Users should download the update from the company’s website .

This update fixed an issue where some products failed to update to Ver. 6.00. Even for products that successfully updated to Ver. 6.00, the issue of power saving when the monitor was closed regardless of the setting for [Power saving when monitor is opened or closed] has been fixed.

This update includes the updates made in Ver.6.00.

Added shooting and playback functions

The layout of the shooting information displayed on the screen can be adjusted to either portrait or landscape orientation.
Added “Spot: XL” to “Spot” in “Focus Area.”
“Custom 1,” “Custom 2,” and “Custom 3” have been added to “Custom” in “Focus Area.”
Added “Tracking: Spot XL”, “Tracking: Custom 1”, “Tracking: Custom 2”, and “Tracking: Custom 3” to “Tracking” in “Focus Area”.
Added “Golden Section” to “Grid Line Type”
The menu screen can now be enlarged
You can now flag clips with three different flags: OK, NG, and KEEP during or after video recording.
When shooting video, the remaining capacity of both media is now displayed when using “Simultaneous Recording” or relay recording (automatic switching of recording media).
When recording video, the audio level is now always displayed on the screen.
Relay playback between media is now possible
You can now narrow down the images you want to play using multiple criteria, such as “rating.”
During playback, you can now assign custom keys to the AF-ON, AEL, and Delete buttons.
Supports registration/switching of multiple IPTC Presets
Supports the “digital signature writing” function for videos, which is used in authenticity camera solutions.
*A license must be installed to use this function (fees apply). The timing for providing licenses (fees apply) to customers other than certain media organizations has not yet been decided. The service may not be available in some countries or regions.

Added FTP transfer and network functions

FTP transfer can now be scheduled while writing to media
It is now possible to schedule automatic FTP transfer of protected videos and still images.
Videos and still images transferred via FTP can now be automatically protected.
When transferring images via FTP, it is now possible to transfer specified images with priority.
