Canon announced the upcoming release of the “CN30×40 IAS J/R1” (RF mount) and “CN30×40 IAS J/P1” (PL mount) in late September 2026 as new products in its “CINE-SERVO lens” series of cinema lenses. These lenses achieve the world’s longest telephoto focal length of 1200mm while maintaining portability.
Canon CINE-SERVO Lens Line Variety
The new products are the “CN30×40 IAS J/R1,” which supports RF mount communication functions, and the “CN30×40 IAS J/P1,” which uses the PL mount widely used in the imaging industry. Thanks to advancements in Canon’s optical technology, the new lenses maintain almost the same overall length and weight as the previous 20x zoom models “CN20×50 IAS H/E1” and “CN20×50 IAS H/P1” (released in April 2015), while expanding the wide-angle and telephoto ranges and achieving a world-leading telephoto focal length of 1200mm while maintaining portability.
Furthermore, by incorporating a new digital drive unit with high optical performance compatible with 8K cameras, autofocus capabilities, and excellent operability, it will enable new forms of visual expression in areas such as filming animals, nature, sports broadcasts, and concerts.

Canon CN30×40 IAS CINE-SERVO Main Features
Telephoto range of the “CINE-SERVO lens” series with a super-telephoto lens with the world’s longest focal length of 1200mm.
This 30x zoom lens covers a wide range of focal lengths, from a wide-angle 40mm to a telephoto 1200mm, making it the world’s longest telephoto lens. When using the built-in 1.5x extender, the zoom range can be switched to a focal length of 60mm-1800mm, and it can also be used as a lens compatible with 35mm full-frame sensors. Furthermore, despite the significant increase in magnification from 20x to 30x, the “CN30×40 IAS J/P1” maintains the same overall length of approximately 405.2mm and weight of approximately 6.6kg as its predecessor.

Canon CN30×40 IAS CINE-SERVO RF Mount Version supports live production with “Dual Pixel CMOS AF” and “Automatic Exposure Ramping Correction”.
The “CN30×40 IAS J/R1” utilizes the RF mount communication system to support “Dual Pixel CMOS AF” and focus guide functions, which were not available on previous models. This makes it possible to capture unforgettable moments impressively while considering the burden on the camera operator during live shooting.
Furthermore, when combined with the “EOS C400” (released in September 2024), it supports “Automatic Exposure Ramping Correction,” which corrects the light drop that occurs when zooming, allowing for shooting while maintaining a constant brightness. In addition to peripheral illumination correction and chromatic aberration correction, which were supported by previous models, it also supports distortion correction, focus breathing correction, and the Canon Virtual Production System, supporting video production in a variety of settings.
Equipped with a newly developed digital drive unit, the servo speed has been increased.
The Canon CN30×40 IAS CINE-SERVO line employs a newly developed drive unit equipped with a highly versatile USB Type-C terminal. By using an external power supply via the USB Type-C terminal, the servo speed of zoom and focus is increased, allowing for quick zoom in and zoom out to capture fleeting moments in situations such as sports broadcasting and live production.

The lenses also support the transmission of lens focus, zoom, and iris position information, as well as lens control from a remote system.
