Hasselblad and Capture One announced a partnership that brings native support for Hasselblad medium format cameras to Capture One. Photographers can now directly import, organize, and develop Hasselblad RAW files (.3FR) in Capture One, utilizing the full toolset of layers, masks, color editing, and precise adjustments. Support for three Hasselblad 100-megapixel models and the CFV 100C digital back will be available from day one.
Native support for Hasselblad RAW files is now available in Capture One 16.8.3 and Mobile 3.3.4 and later for the three compatible models. Tethered shooting is planned for support in the second half of 2026.
Native workflows in demand for many years
Native support for Hasselblad cameras has been one of the most requested features for Capture One over the years, with photographers requesting it through community forums, feature request boards, and social channels.
Previously, importing these files into Capture One required conversion or workarounds, forcing photographers to sacrifice color accuracy and editing flexibility. That process is now unnecessary. Images shot with a Hasselblad open in their native format and can be developed using the same tools photographers normally use.
Bronius Rudnickas, Global Marketing Manager at Hasselblad, commented as follows:
Rudnickas : From the very beginning, Hasselblad has been driven by a passion for photography and a strong commitment to providing photographers with the tools they need to realize their creative visions. We are thrilled that Hasselblad technology will now be accessible to a wider audience. Together, we will help more creators leverage the best tools to realize their visions and produce exceptional photographic works.
Designed for Hasselblad
Hasselblad cameras are known for their high image quality, and this integration is designed to maintain that image quality.
This support is not generic but customized for each individual model. Because a dedicated color profile is created for each model, Hasselblad files are rendered with the realistic colors familiar to Capture One users. Additionally, a dedicated lens profile for Hasselblad XCD lenses corrects distortion, chromatic aberration, and vignetting.
Rafael Orta, CEO of Capture One, commented as follows:
“Photographers have long requested that we bring Hasselblad’s image quality to the Capture One platform. This partnership makes that a reality, allowing more photographers to have everything they need, from initial inspiration to the final image. This is a collaboration that the photography community has been waiting for for a long time, and we are delighted that it has finally come to fruition.”
Tethered shooting planned to be supported second half of 2026
At launch, this partnership will enable native support for RAW files, allowing photographers to develop existing and new Hasselblad images in Capture One. Tethered shooting, which allows direct connection of Hasselblad cameras to Capture One for live shooting on location, is planned for support in late 2026.
A step for both companies
For Capture One, this partnership continues its long-standing commitment to supporting professional camera systems that photographers trust, welcoming Hasselblad to the many brands already supported by the software. This reflects the shared priority of both companies to allow photographers to freely pair their favorite cameras with their trusted software.
