Apple has released Final Cut Pro for iPad 2, which turns the iPad into a powerful production studio, along with Final Cut Pro for Mac 10.8, with significant artificial intelligence-driven organizational updates to make workflows more efficient.
Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 and Final Cut Pro for Mac 10.8 4 are available as free updates for existing users. For new users, Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 is available as a monthly subscription service on the App Store for $5.99 and Final Cut Pro for Mac 10.8 is available on the Mac App Store for $299.
Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 lets you shoot, edit, finish and stream on your iPad
Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 unleashes the capabilities of the new iPad Pro with the M4 chip, supporting up to twice the rendering speed and up to four times the ProRes RAW streams compared to the M1.
The new Live Multicam feature allows users to wirelessly connect and preview up to four cameras simultaneously in one place. Using a combination of iPhone and iPad devices, users can see each camera from a director’s perspective and manually control settings using the new professional app, Final Cut Camera. Final Cut Camera powers Live Multicam and also functions as a standalone recording app on iPhone and iPad, allowing users to adjust settings like manual focus, shutter speed, ISO and more.
For greater storage flexibility when working with large files, the app now supports external projects. Two users can create new projects or open existing projects without taking up internal storage space. The app also supports the new Apple Pencil Pro, utilizing barrel rolls for more precise control over live drawing tools and squeezing to quickly recall brushes and settings.
Final Cut Pro for Mac features AI-driven organizational updates to make your workflow more efficient
The Mac update also helps take professional workflows to the next level. Harnessing the power of Apple Silicon’s Neural Engine, this update also adds new AI features: Enhance Light and Color and Smooth Slo-Mo. Enhance Light and Color automatically adjusts color correction in your video, while Smooth Slo-Mo intelligently blends video frames to deliver the best quality motion.
New organization tools also make post-production workflows more efficient, including custom names for color correction and video effects in the Inspector, timeline index to find and move clips that are missing media or effects, and text-based timeline search by reel, scene, camera angle and other information
