Leica Camera Group announced that it will once again achieve record-high sales in the fiscal year 2024/2025. As the company celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of Leica in 2025, the company is looking back on its historic achievement of achieving record-high sales for the fourth consecutive year while further increasing profitability.
The premium optical equipment manufacturer’s sales are expected to increase by 7.6% from April 2024 to the end of March 2025, reaching approximately 596 million euros (previous year: 554 million euros). The main growth drivers were increased sales in the core photography and mobile (smartphone) businesses. Additionally, the high-quality home cinema projectors (Smart Projection), lifestyle accessories (Watches) and premium optical lenses (Eye Care) businesses also saw significant expansion, further increasing their contribution to the Group’s overall sales.
The sports optics field has performed well despite the challenging market environment, maintaining its position as Leica’s second largest business area, just as it did last year.
“We are responding to the growing global demand for cameras with high-quality products made in Germany,” Matthias Hirsch, CEO of Leica Camera AG, said. “In the last fiscal year, we launched new camera models as well as new products such as the Leica LUX app and the Leica Cine Play 1 mini projector. Our business success is based on innovation and the expansion of our own global sales network.”
The continued success of the Leica Camera Group is a testament to the company’s strategic direction, focusing on products that build on its expertise in the fields of optics and mechanics, and continuing to offer unique product experiences through its design and usability concepts.

Growth in all regions of the world again
Leica Camera Group’s sales grew in all regions of the world in fiscal year 2024/2025. Europe saw the strongest growth of 7.6%, with the German market contributing in particular to its 11.4% growth. Asia (+7.3%) and North America (+6.2%) also showed solid growth.
The Group further expanded its international sales network and presence in strategically important markets by opening new Leica stores in China (Wuhan), Japan (Tokyo), and South Korea (Seoul). In addition, its online business recorded a 12.5% increase, making a significant contribution to the Group’s growth.
Leica will continue to expand its retail store network and build a unique market position through a multi-channel model that integrates physical stores, auctions, and e-commerce.

Success factors and innovative new products in the photography field
Leica Camera AG announced a number of new cameras in the previous fiscal year, which contributed to sales growth. The company is one of the few companies still producing film cameras. In the digital camera category, the compact full-frame camera “Leica Q3” led sales. A 43mm prime lens version debuted in September 2024, further expanding the lineup.
The 60-megapixel full-frame system camera, the “Leica SL3,” and the 24-megapixel “Leica SL3-S” also garnered high demand. Furthermore, the new compact camera “Leica D-LUX 8” was released. The Leica M system also saw the release of the iconic full-frame digital camera, “Leica M11-D,” which deliberately does not feature a digital display.
Expansion of other business fields
In the field of sports optics, Leica began exploring new target audiences beyond hunting and nature observation last year. The Leica Ultravid Color Line binoculars are aimed primarily at adventurous people, urban explorers and nature lovers. At the same time, the company is further digitalizing its sports optics portfolio in areas such as thermal imaging and distance measurement.
In the mobile field, the strategic partnership with Xiaomi continued to develop well in the mobile imaging field. The two companies announced the Xiaomi 14T series, equipped with Leica optical technology, in September 2024, and the Xiaomi 15 series, featuring new Leica Summilux lenses that bring greater depth and expressiveness, in March 2025.
Furthermore, in June 2024, the company expanded its digital ecosystem by announcing the launch of the professional photo app for iPhone, “Leica LUX,” which has been a huge success, with over one million downloads to date. In February 2025, the company also released the “Leica LUX Grip,” a camera grip with a shutter button and zoom function, similar in feel and texture to classic Leica cameras.
Within smart projection business, the company expanded its lineup for home cinemas in November 2024, announcing the “Cine Play 1,” a mini projector that allows users to enjoy a movie experience tailored to their needs, whether at home or on the go.
Leica Group expanded its watch collection with the release of the new Leica ZM 12 in February 2025. This model exudes timeless elegance and is available with four different dials.
100 years of Leica: Witness to a century (1925-2025)
Leica is celebrating a memorable milestone in 2025. It marks the 100th anniversary of the 1925 release of the Leica I, Leica’s first mass-produced 35mm camera. To commemorate this milestone, Leica is holding a celebration titled “100 Years of Leica: Witness to a Century (1925-2025).” This event is underway in five major cities around the world, featuring numerous cultural events and the release of exciting new products.
The year’s highlight event took place in June at Leica’s headquarters in Wetzlar, Germany, and Leica Galleries around the world are hosting exhibitions showcasing the work of outstanding photographers.
