The Blender Foundation today announced that Netflix Animation Studios will join the Blender Development Fund as a “Corporate Patron.”
The funding will be used across Blender’s core development to continually improve the content creation tool for individuals and teams working in media and entertainment workflows.
“This membership addition is an important recognition that Blender is becoming more deeply integrated into the workflows of high-end animation studios,” said Blender CEO Francesco Siddi, commenting on the partnership. “We appreciate this strategic move by Netflix Animation Studios as it is an investment in a diverse, public, and open-source friendly ecosystem of creative tools that will benefit our community of content creators around the world.”
“Netflix Animation Studios’ corporate membership to Blender reflects our ongoing support of open source software in the animation community,” Darin Grant, SVP of Global Technology, Netflix Animation Studios, also commented in turn. “We are proud to be the first major animation studio to support the continued development and adoption of Blender by current and future generations of animation professionals.”
