
Sony has released updates for its digital single-lens reflex cameras, the α7R V and α7 IV. These updates are available for download from the company’s website.
The firmware updates are listed below, quoted from Sony itself.
Sony Firmware Update for α7R V Ver. 4.00
Added shooting and playback functions
- The layout of the shooting information displayed on the screen can be adjusted to either portrait or landscape orientation.
- Added “Spot: XL” to “Spot” in “Focus Area.”
- “Custom 1,” “Custom 2,” and “Custom 3” have been added to “Custom” in “Focus Area.”
- Added “Tracking: Spot XL”, “Tracking: Custom 1”, “Tracking: Custom 2”, and “Tracking: Custom 3” to “Tracking” in “Focus Area”.
- Added “Golden Section” to “Grid Line Type”
- The menu screen can now be enlarged
- You can now flag clips with three different flags: OK, NG, and KEEP during or after video recording.
- When shooting video, the remaining capacity of both media is now displayed when using “Simultaneous Recording” or relay recording (automatic switching of recording media).
- Relay playback between media is now possible
- You can now narrow down the images you want to play using multiple criteria, such as “rating.”
- During playback, you can now assign custom keys to the AF-ON, AEL, and Delete buttons.
- Supports registration/switching of multiple IPTC Presets
- Supports the “digital signature writing” function for still images and videos, which can be used in authentic camera solutions
Added FTP transfer and network functions
- FTP transfer can now be scheduled while writing to media
- It is now possible to schedule automatic FTP transfer of protected videos and still images.
- Videos and still images transferred via FTP can now be automatically protected.
- When transferring images via FTP, it is now possible to transfer specified images with priority.
- Supports Monitor & Control functions
Other Fixes
- The “Security (IPsec)” function is no longer supported (we recommend turning on the “Access Authentication” function, which offers stronger security).
- “WPA” and “WEP” functions are no longer supported (we recommend using “WPA2” or “WPA3” in the future, which offer higher security).
- Fixed an issue where the focus did not reach infinity during focus bracketing.
- Improved the issue where color reproduction may change even when the white balance is fixed when shooting exposure bracketed in lossless compressed RAW.
