Magewell has announced feature updates for its all-in-one production and streaming system, Director Mini.
Due for release within the next 30 days, Director Mini version 3.0 is currently in beta testing, will be available as a free firmware update and will be showcased at the company’s stand (stand number: 7.A44) at IBC2024 in Amsterdam from September 13-16, 2024.
The Magewell Director Mini combines multi-input switching, graphics, streaming, recording and monitoring in one compact device. Packed with features in a small, portable form factor, version 3.0 just got even better with over four dozen enhancements including an expanded production toolset, remote control capabilities and input flexibility.
New scene presets including picture-in-picture, side-by-side and quad split allow users to create scene layouts incorporating multiple camera angles and sources faster and easier. Director Mini’s built-in scoreboard engine has added four new templates for soccer (including starting lineups and substitutions). Integrated graphics capabilities now include animated titles and lower-siders, and numerous user interface improvements make working with scene layouts and graphics faster and more precise.
Remote control options for Director Mini have also been expanded, allowing producers and assistants to operate Director Mini from a mobile device or laptop. The free Director Utility mobile app now enables monitoring of live show video and audio, creating and editing multi-step shortcuts, instant replay control and sharing of replay events. Director Mini’s browser based web UI has also been expanded to include instant replay control.
Director Mini’s input flexibility has been further extended with support for RTSP streams and HTML web page sources, including HDMI, USB, NDI, SRT, RTMP and mobile camera inputs. Version 3.0 also allows Director Mini’s graphics engine to use NDI High Bandwidth sources as motion overlays with alpha channel.
Other new features include the ability to record, stream and encode Director Mini’s multiview output (consisting of program output, preview output and multiple input sources) for NDI delivery, support for captive portal authentication in shared Wi-Fi environments, USB tethering using a smartphone’s cellular data connection, along with many other fixes and enhancements.
Nick Ma, CEO and CTO of Magewell, commented:
Like every Director Mini update, version 3.0 includes some powerful new features that provide added value to our customers.
We also focused on making existing features better, giving users more control and honing in on an easier, more efficient user experience.
