Metabones announced the Canon EF to Sony E mount CINE eND (referred to as the EF-E CINE eND). This new product is a smart adapter for converting Canon EF to Sony E mount. This new adaptor was exhibited at the LC-Tec Displays AB booth at IBC 2024, held in Amsterdam from September 13th to 16th, 2024.
Canon EF-mount and EF-S-mount lenses can be used with Sony E-mount cameras using the EF-E CINE eND Smart Adapter.
The OLED display shows status and settings, and a rotary dial controls the eND filter. The eND filter has an adjustment range of -2 to -7 stops. No external power is required, it’s all powered by the camera. With the flick of a lever the eND filter is swapped, replacing it with a clear filter of the correct thickness to keep the back focus constant.
Since inventing the smart adapter in 2012, Metabones has provided unique features related to video, such as support for most cinema lenses, including Canon CN-E Compact Servo Zoom with power zoom, autofocus and auto iris, and Sigma CINE lenses in Canon EF mount with the ability to display lens metadata on the camera. Metabones’ Smooth Iris function smooths out iris changes to avoid losing aesthetics, and is compatible with many Canon, Sigma and Tamron lenses. Metabones also excels in still photography, featuring the fastest phase detection autofocus (PDAF) of any adapter on the market. It supports both in-body image stabilization (IBIS) and optical image stabilization (OIS), and is optimized to maximize the effect.
Firmware updates that improve performance, support for more cameras and lenses, or add new features are available at no additional cost and can be downloaded free of charge from www.metabones.com .
