LIGHT LENS LAB released a Stainless Steel Edition of the M 35mm f/2 interchangeable lens. The LIGHT LENS LAB M 35mm f/2 has been updated with a “Stainless Steel Edition” limited to 300 units worldwide. The lens barrel is made of SUS316 stainless steel, a first for a manufacturer, achieving high corrosion resistance and durability. The same material is used for the included hood, filter, front and rear caps, giving it a unified finish.
In addition, the lens spacing, coating, and assembly method have been adjusted to optimize the lens for film photography. When used with a film camera, the colors are richer than with the standard model, enabling images with an emphasis on depth and texture.
This Leica M-mount lens uses a double Gauss type lens configuration and was produced as part of a reproduction project that Chinese investor Zhou has been working on for over three years. It is said to have performance very close to that of the early Leica 35mm F2, commonly known as the “eight-element” lens.
The lens is made from materials similar to the glass material of the original lens, and the coating, lens barrel design, and the method of fixing the focus ring at infinity are also reproduced. Furthermore, the lens barrel is made of stainless steel, which gives it a more solid and luxurious feel than the original aluminum alloy lens. Due to the overall finish of the product and the high level of reproduction, it is said to be nicknamed “Hachi-piece” among Leica users.
