Roland Corporation opened its first directly managed store in Japan, “Roland Store Tokyo,” in the Harajuku area of Tokyo on October 1, 2023. This is Roland’s second store, following Roland Store, which opened in London, England last year, and is Roland’s first directly managed store. This shop carries the latest electronic musical instruments such as synthesizers, electronic pianos, and guitar-related products.
Those visiting Japan should take a look at their website, linked here. Note the website is in Japanese but there is a translation button available.
Our Japan team took part of a media preview held on September 29, 2023.
About the Roland Store concept
Roland opened its first directly managed store, the Roland Store, in London, UK in 2022. The opening marked the 50th anniversary of its founding. The Roland Store provides experiences that stimulate creativity through playing instruments and creating music. The mission of the store also is to support customers to enrich their musical lives.
A major feature of the tie is the individual support provided by Roland Product Specialists. These Specialists have specialized knowledge of musical instruments and other Roland gear. Advance reservations for individual support are required online. However, the Specialists will provide solutions tailored to each individual’s needs, including one-on-one product explanations, demonstrations, and lectures on how to use musical instruments effectively.
In addition, store lighting effects and videos similar to a live stage are created to suit visitors, allowing them to experience the joy and exhilaration of creating music and Roland’s worldview.
The newly opened “Roland Store Tokyo” is based on the concept of “Roland Store,” but by allowing people to experience Roland’s electronic musical instruments in a better environment, they can enjoy the joy of creating music to the fullest and enjoy it for many years to come. The aim is for people to enjoy their musical lives.

Gordon Lazon, President and Representative Director of the company, commented as follows:
I am very pleased to announce the opening of Roland Store Tokyo. Born in Japan, Roland has continued to fascinate musicians and music lovers around the world for more than 50 years since its founding, producing groundbreaking products that have revolutionized the music scene one after another.
The purpose of opening Roland Store Tokyo is not “direct sales” itself. By opening Roland Store Tokyo in Harajuku, the epicenter of subcultures such as music, fashion, and art, we hope to share our thoughts with as many music lovers as possible as the “best place to experience the Roland brand.” I want to deliver it. Nothing would make us happier than if Roland could use our free thinking and creativity to work closely with each of our customers and help them improve their musical lives.
We look forward to seeing you at Roland Store Tokyo.
