Ahead of the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, Adobe announced the beta version of the next update of Adobe Premiere Pro. This update features an intuitive new audio experience. It makes audio editing quick and easy, saving experienced professionals time, while giving first-time users quick access to the tools they need.
The Adobe Premiere Pro update will be available in beta starting today. With this update, interactive fade handles appear on clips in the timeline, allowing users to create a variety of custom audio fades by simply clicking and dragging the handles.
In addition, the new AI-powered Auto Audio Type Tagging feature automatically identifies clips as Dialogue, Music, Sound Effects, or Ambient Sound and displays an icon for them. This gives users one-click access to the most appropriate tools for each audio type.
Redesigned Waveforms
The clip badge has also been redesigned, making it easier to see which clips have effects applied, quickly add new effects, and adjust effect settings. Other updates include a more modern, intelligent waveform display that follows track height changes, and improved clip colors that make audio on the timeline easier to see and work with.
In addition to these new audio features available today in Adobe Premiere Pro (beta), Adobe’s AI-powered Enhance Speech tool instantly removes unwanted noise and improves conversation recordings. Enhance Speech is currently scheduled to be generally available in February for all Adobe Premiere Pro users.
Together, these new features and technologies update the audio workflow in Adobe Premiere Pro, allowing users to create videos with high-quality audio and complete the final mix in fewer clicks.
Ashley Still, senior vice president and general manager of Adobe Creative Cloud, commented:
Sound evokes emotion and conveys a story in a way that images alone cannot. It gives meaning to movies and images and makes them memorable. Whether you’re new to audio editing or a seasoned pro, Adobe Premiere Pro makes finding the perfect tool faster and easier.
